- People who are HIV should ask to make 2 appointments to receive their
vaccinations from their GP. - You will be asked if you are immunodeficient, and there should be no further questions.
- There are 2 types of vaccination, one of which is egg based, and another for people who would be allergic to any egg based product. These will be given in 2 doses 3 weeks apart.
- Patients who are unsure should refer to the Department of Health alert on Swine Flu, available at:-
http://www.nhs.uk/Conditions/Pandemic-flu/Pages/Vaccine.aspx
- The instrument has been finalised, and this with all other relevant material should be ready to go before the ethics committee for approval in December.
- Drafts have to be in place for approval of Poly-systems clinics by early December.
- These clinics will be based at GP surgeries within the local community. GPās within these clinics should be experienced in all aspects of HIV care. If a GP was unsure on how to treat a patient they will have direct telephone access to specialists in HIV clinics to seek advice.
- Obvious problems arising from these proposed Poly-systems clinics are; not all HIV patients have a GP, and the question of anonymity should HIV patients choose to access care through a GP.
